Perth to Esperance
We left Perth at the crack of late morning and headed south. First stop was Mandurah for fuel. We continued on to Bunbury where we found a really good bakery. We loaded up on lunch and got some nice fresh bread to take with us and headed to Busselton. We wanted to walk the famous Busselton Jetty but on discovering that they charge you $4 just to walk on public property we decided that they were taking the piss and refused to pay it. We spent the entire drive to Margaret River ranting about the ridiculousness of charging just to walk a pubic jetty.
Jewel Cave near Augusta was pretty interesting. Quite expensive, I think ticket prices are to pay off the extensive lighting equipment installed in the cave which didn't really add anything in our opinion.
Margaret River
We didn't spend much time in Margaret River, was a bit too touristy and yuppie for our liking. We thought we might like to go out for dinner but after looking at all the menus online we decided that nothing seemed to suit what we were after. We stayed one night at the Margaret River Tourist Park, the park was pretty good. Zero complaints other then we found the site quite small but I think this was due to us checking in late and a lack of availability. The temperature dropped to 11degrees overnight and this was FREEZING for us. We had obviously become quite accustom to the tropical temperatures in Hedland.
Augusta
We quite liked Augusta. Much quieter and more laid back then Margaret River. We found a free camp spot in a rest area off the highway and were able to light a fire and had a nice night chatting with fellow travellers. We went to the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, might like the Busselton Jetty there is an entry fee. So we decided we had seen plenty of free lighthouses already and that there was no need to pay to see this one. The view out at cape Leeuwin is very nice. It is worth driving out there that's for sure. Just up to you wether you want to pay to walk up to the lighthouse or not. There is a cool water wheel nearby, it is worth a look.
We found the Augusta Marina complex to be fantastic. It is a really impressive setup and we attempted to catch a feed of fish off the rock wall there but we had zero luck.
A little slow motion video from the smartphone.

The boat ramps and jetties at Augusta Marina.
All ready to go fishing at the Augusta Marina. No luck unfortunately.
Northcliffe
Don't have too much to say about town, we drove straight through it to the caravan park and then left the next morning. Seemed like a nice spot though, the caravan park certainly was.

Albany
The Light horse ANZAC memorial at Albany. Well worth a visit. Most if not all of the diggers that went to the Dardanells Campaign (Gallipoli) boarded their ships in Albany and went to Egypt for training.

Pingrup, WA
A pink lake near Pinrup, WA.
The "Big Handpiece" at Pingrup, WA. A really thoughtful truckie had parked in roadtrain in front of the big handpiece and unhooked so we didn't even see it at first. That explains the ordinary photo with no surroundings.
